A Pair of Detentions Following London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident resulted in the partial closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 car park.

An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, as stated by police.

A 24-year-old man, was arrested in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests come after a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt in the event. Five people went to hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.

Officers arrested a man in his thirties for suspected robbery and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were alerted at about 08:10 GMT following reports of several individuals injured by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.

The assault - which police said was isolated and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
