Cars in Germany's City Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Police reported they were alerted by a individual who noticed a vehicle in Hanau smeared with reddish substance

Around fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a release.

Law enforcement report they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.

The liquid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Officers then found multiple other marked vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police say initial examinations show the fluid was probably human blood.

"There is still no lead as to where it came from; investigators are not yet cognizant of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they commented.

Municipal representatives said they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the community for information.

A high-ranking official stated the attack left him speechless and needed to be solved promptly.

"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing attack five years ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the death of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
