Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in power within the city.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of characters who will separate from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might seem unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group knows exactly where to go next after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing started the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, striking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then cleared his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each character has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
- But, their status as important members in the influential clan could assist the group reach places they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the clan.
This means them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in quest for the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Seekers and Strategists tables.
Fans can anticipate finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
