Tragic News on Cargo Plane Incident: Fatalities Rises to 13

The tally of victims resulting from the transport jet that ignited and went down has now reached 13, as confirmed by recent announcements.

Official's Statement

“On my way to the Teamsters’ vigil, I learned of a 13th person that lost their life as a consequence of the plane incident,” wrote the municipal leader in a social media post. “My prayers is with the loved ones, associates and co-workers of all who were lost in this recently occurred tragedy. We will endure this together.”

Victims Confirmed

A release from UPS named the officers operating the jet as Pilot Richard Wartenberg, Co-pilot Lee Truitt, and International Relief Officer Dana Diamond.

“Our hearts are extended to each staff member who has been affected and everyone in our community community – assisting you and guaranteeing you get the support and resources you need is our focus,” the company’s message stated.

Probe Findings

National authorities revealed that the freight aircraft’s wing caught fire and an engine detached soon after departure from the Louisville Muhammad Ali international airport, resulting in the aircraft to plummet and explode into a fireball.

The National Transportation Safety Board stated it is examining the jet’s service record, which was in Texas for repairs weeks prior to the accident.

Flight tracking data showed the jet was on the runway in San Antonio, Texas from early September to 18 October.

“We are aware that this plane was there in that city,” remarked an investigator on the following day, not giving a precise period. “We will review every piece of maintenance that was done, from the San Antonio time, all the way to the date of the flight.”

Findings of Key Evidence

The cockpit voice recorder and information unit were recovered, and the motor was located on the airfield.

The recorders – known as black boxes – were built to endure accident forces and severe temperatures from fires, and they appeared to be in one piece when found among the remains. Authorities plan on reviewing data from the devices.

Jet’s last data recordings indicated an altitude of 475 ft and a speed of 210 miles per hour before the accident.

Service History

Based on FAA files from that date, a fissure on a component in the center wing fuel tank needed fixes.

Headquartered in Singapore ST Engineering, which said it offers airframe maintenance for the carrier’s MD-11 and operates a repair facility in that city, chose not to provide remarks, but expressed it would work closely when investigators contacted it.

Operations Restart

Meanwhile, UPS Worldport operations continued last night with its express or night sort procedure, representative a representative confirmed. All three runways at the aviation hub were also back in operation.

The sorting center in this location is the firm’s largest. The center hires over a large number of individuals in the area, handles 300 aircraft daily and sorts in excess of a huge volume of items an hour.

Public Reaction

A memorial was conducted on the late afternoon of 6 November by the local worker’s group, which supports workers at the aviation hub, the firm’s largest freight center.

Worker representatives, which stands for UPS workers, commenced the gathering with a period of reflection at 5.14pm, the rough hour of the accident two days earlier.

“This event was so sudden, so unforeseen,” the mayor spoke to the group of 200. “No one had a moment to bid farewell to any of those who we have lost.”
